Michael Jackson was praised by Quincy Jones for brilliantly playing his role alongside Diana Ross in the film ''The Wizard of Oz'', in its adaptation made aimed at the African-American population. Although the film did not get much attention, Jackson's participation made it a brand. He had a knack for memorizing all dialogue, song lyrics and dance moves quickly. ''He had the ability to absorb everything in such a short amount of time,'' Jones reported.
